Shootout! Renault Pulse vs Toyota Etios Liva vs Maruti Suzuki Swift
After being away from the office for almost a month due to personal reasons, I came back only to be entrusted with the task of comparing three hatchbacks. Now, being a typical performance car buff, my first reaction was not one of elation. Well, consider the fact that I had to sit behind the wheels of three different cars that take close to 15 seconds to attain triple-digit speed, aren't designed to tackle fast corners (leave alone the tail-out drama) and do not make the people on the road stop in their tracks to take notice. But then I looked at the competitors and thought about the proposition: there was the Renault Pulse (which is essentially a Nissan Micra in a different attire), the Toyota Etios Liva (which has set a new benchmark in inexpensive mid-size hatchbacks) and the Maruti Suzuki Swift (which I have loved a lot over the years right from its previous version). It was a tough call. Thus set out two of my colleagues and myself on a quest to figure out the best among these three in all the aspects that we could think of.
