While Europe shivers under a mini ice age, Italian coachbuilder Castagna has revealed the ultimate summer car.

It's called the Tender 2 and is based on a Fiat 500. This custom-built car took over 2,000 hours to build.

It comes with a mini shower, champagne fridge, picnic set and a spare battery to power the stereo for extended parties on the beach.

Castagna cut the doors off a regular 500 and replaced them with narrow wood decks, with an electrically-operated ladder to allow children to climb aboard easily.

The one-off has been snapped up by a sun-loving American for $104,000 (£68k) – which we personally think is a bit of a bargain for something so unique.

And as you will see later in the gallery, a former African despot also commissioned one of these Fiat 500s.
