Gran Turismo 6, the latest edition of Polyphony Digital’s ultra successful PlayStation racing game franchise, has just launched revealing an enormous list of cars for players to enjoy. Over 1,200 in total with more than 120 new for this latest GT6 version, some of which are really out of this world.

Quite literally, in fact, as one section of the game gives you the chance to drive the Lunar Rover – on the moon. On top of this there’s an increased number of historic cars, modern racing vehicles and even a few futuristic machines, including the Mercedes-Benz Vision Gran Turismo and Red Bull Racing X2014.

At the launch event in Ronda, Spain, game creator Kazunori Yamauchi also exposed a number of additional Vision Gran Turismo concept designs from other carmakers. Ronda’s mayor, meanwhile, unveiled ‘Paseo de Kaunori Yamauchi’; yes, a street has been named after the man in recognition of his achievements.

Returning to the virtual roadways of GT6, there are a number of new circuits available including Silverstone, Ascari, Brands Hatch, the Goodwood Hillclimb and Bathurst. All of which are now rendered using a new HDR engine, to compliment racing dynamics that are said to be even more realistic.

With online game play and downloadable content, Gran Turismo 6 is set to give Forza 5 a real run for its money – so why not join us for a look at some of the most exciting cars featured in the game…
