SEAT Leon Cupra R
Car: SEAT Leon Cupra R
Feature: Sound generator
Cards on table time. I don't really have too much of a problem with sound generators that pipe noise into the car. If it saves us from another farting Vauxhall Corsa that's fine by me. The Mercedes SLK has a diaphragm that pipes noise into the cabin and even the latest BMW M5 features an artificial engine note that amps up the aural fireworks indoors. The SEAT Leon Cupra R has one too and it's dreadful.
You won't hear it at first. Nothing, nothing, nothing and then you get the sort of roar that sounds as if Darth Vader has been taken by surprise by an amorous Tauntaun. There's no warning. Let the revs drop and just as quickly, this frankly bizarre MP3 file quits. There has to be a way of plugging a laptop into the car's OBD port and, finding that file and changing it. I quite fancy the sound of the T. Rex from Jurassic Park.
