Volkswagen mk4 Golf GTI

With superb build quality the mk4 was a great ownership proposition but a GTI it was not. Even with a turbocharged 180bhp under the bonnet, this Golf was simply too heavy and too slow to capture the imagination. Dull-witted handling didn't help and the Mk4 was a shadow of the original.
